What's New?
16th June 2010 As set out on the main page, there are hundreds of new Braddons, Bradons and Braddens in the 'data on individuals' section, with newly established links between parents and children, helping the process of 'family reconstruction'. 30th January 2010 Happy New Year! Again there have been amendments to the data on individuals, with the process of 'family reconstruction' identifying duplications and the linking of individuals.
3rd February 2009 A new page of Braddon Locations has been added with brief descriptions of the places where Braddons have lived. New places will be added to this page. here are photos of some of these locations; again, more are to follow. 25th January 2009 Data from the 1911 census has been entered on the Individual Records section of the Database. 10th January 2009 Descendancy charts for James Braddon of Exeter and William Braddon of Plymouth have been added to the Individuals and Charts Database. 23rd December 2008 The indexes of Braddon births, marriages and deaths in England and Wales from the GRO have now been brought up to 2005. Additional data appears on the Database. 21st December 2008 The index of Braddon marriages from the GRO has been brought up to 1983 29th September 2008 Not many changes this time, apart from some additional data on the Database and on Brief Lives the report on William Braddon of Dartington (1802 - 1872)'s trial in 1845 at the Devon Assizes, from Woolmer's Exeter and Plymouth Gazette. A summary of his tragic life will follow. 18th May 2008 8 new biographies have been added. 25th February 2008 Again addition of more data to the Database. 28th January 2008 No dramatic developments this month but there has been considerable addition of data to both the Database, where the variants of Bradon and Bradden have been added to the lists of Births, Deaths and Marriages, and the Records of Individuals. The process of adding and amending data is continuous, so it is well worth checking regularly. 11th December 2007 The Discussion Forum has had to go the way of the Guest Book and for the same reason: it has been deluged by spam. However, because the opportunity for readers to share information and ideas and to help each other in their enquiries was a major reason for setting up this site, a solution has been sought and (hopefully) found. There is now a Braddon Family History blog, which can be reached from this site by clicking on Blog here or on the menu on the Home Page. You can also access it directly at http://braddonfamilyhistory.blogspot.com It is then possible to return to this Main Site from the blog. 10th December 2007 The Individuals and Charts database has a new look. More substantially it now includes additional descendancy charts for William Braddon of Mamhead, Humphrey Braddon of Yarnscombe and William Braddon of Dartington. 5th October 2007 The list of Braddon marriages has been extended to 1939. 23rd September 2007 The major addition is the list of Braddon marriages from 1837 to 1925. Please note that this list is NOT complete and is being added to regularly. While the date and place of marriage come from the GRO, the name of spouse is from a variety of sources, usually identified in the Individuals database. Readers are invited to submit known names of spouses to help fill the gaps. 17th August 2007 A major unfortunate change has been the need to delete the Guest Book from the site; there has been so much spam arriving that any genuine messages have been swamped. I can still be reached at braddon@one-name.org On the positive side there is additional data on the Individuals and Charts database, including more marriages and births. This database is due to be revamped soon, using the new Second Site Two software; this will make it easier to produce a greater number of descendancy charts. I am also planning to write more mini biographies and would encourage you to contribute these also. 17th July 2007 Again additions and amendments to the Individuals and Charts database, in response to information received from readers. 21st June 2007 There are additions and amendments to the Individuals and Charts database, so that there are now slightly fewer individuals, on account of merging duplicates. 13th June 2007 The Individuals and Charts database containing records of 2600 individuals and a descendancy chart for William Braddon of Launcells has now gone online. It can be reached by clicking here or from the Database page on this site. Note however, that the individual records and descendancy charts do NOT include anyone who is or may be still living, for reasons of personal privacy. I do have much information on the twentieth century and may be able to help you establish a link between yourself and your ancestors, but it would not be right to publish this. |
